Does anyone have Stephen Ministry in their congregation?

I went through the training several years ago. It is confidential listening, as someone talks out and comes to their own solutions. There is a leader that the Stephen Ministers answer to. I never used the training through the church, although the training was supported by them. I wanted to be able to be a better listener to those I was coming in contact with during the week. It led me to go for more training. I now do volunteer work, and the listening is very important. The training is not about denominational beliefs. It is listening to someone going through a loss, like a death, an illness, an upheaval in their lives. It is not a real long term relationship. The training was several hours long, and it was for the church members to minister to the church members. The church had a membership of over 2000.
