Will my relationship become abusive?

My boyfriend always says how much he loves me and how amazing I am and how he would never like to be with anyone else but he has a temper. He gets angry at what seems like nothing alot of the time. When we argue he shouts alot and has grabbed my wrists and pushed me before when i haven't been listening to him. But he always says It's my fault because the things i do make him that way. He's told me before his dad is sometimes violent towards him so i try and be there for him alot. He asks me to cancell things with my friends and get him instead and the other day when we were arguing he punched me in the face and said it was because i sed, immediatley after he started crying and said he didnt mean to make contact he only meant to scare me but didnt stop in time. Sorry to go on a bit, i just wanted to get as many details as poss on here. I love him so much and when im not with him i hate what he becomes when he's angry. but when im with him i start to believe that it is my fault and things make a lot more sense.
