What does it mean when my cat cleans our new kittens aggressively?

Recently we took in 3 kittens who my cat jasmine didnt take to at first, then we noticed she would lick them while growling. She doesnt growl much anymore but she is still pretty harsh when she licks them and she bites a little bit, not angrily but harder than she would clean herself
