Was witch burning a revenge for what Romans did to the early Christians?

The Bible says "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth", so I wonder if what the Christians did to the "witches" could have been revenge on what the Romans (Pagans, just like the so-called witches) did to the first Christians. Martyr for martyr, it is the same: "you don't believe in the same thing as I do, so I kill you in a horrible gruesome way". What do you think?
